| Bio: | Sidney Green was born to an unknown couple in New Jersey. He was several weeks premature, leaving him with a frailty that stayed with him through his childhood. He doesn’t know who either of his biological parents are, and that’s fine, as he has nothing but hostile feelings towards them. They abandoned him, and so began a string of terrible foster families. His treatment in these various families ran the gamut from extreme neglect to extreme abuse. None of the families were ever pleasant. Constantly moving and changing schools prevented him from making friends, and without any friends to learn social skills from he became extraordinarily withdrawn and socially awkward. The trauma from his home life and his intense loneliness and depression caused him to continue wetting the bed right up until his mutant power developed. This only made the mocking and abuse worse, and in turn made the bed wetting worse, and so on and so on. Sidney wanted nothing more than to be big and tough and strong. If he were big and strong, no one would hurt him anymore, and if he were tough they couldn’t even if they tried. It was his most fervent wish, and the only thing he ever prayed for. The phrase “careful what you wish for” could not be more apt. Sidney did indeed become big and tough and strong soon after his eleventh birthday. Unfortunately, when it came it came hard and with a terrible cost: He became a being of organic granite, a monster eerily reminiscent of the golem from old folk stories. He was the only 5’10” eleven year old in the neighborhood, and weighed over 150 lbs. Not wanting to take care of a monster, the family he was with had him returned to the orphanage, and they placed him with Xavier’s. It’s been five years since then, and he’s really not all that much happier than he was before. Xavier’s, in his opinion, was just like any school, only worse because even though freaks were supposed to fit in there, the pretty-pretty freaks seemed to like making things hell for people like him. This sort of attitude, partially a reality and partially a manifestation of Sidney’s own self-loathing, created a strong distaste for the “pretty-pretty freaks”. He was more than willing to revise his views on a case-by-case basis when people proved him wrong. He believed such a case was Foxx, a very beautiful female student that he actually came out of his shell around. Admittedly, his advances were awkward, but they were genuine. Then she turned out to be Mystique, he felt betrayed and attacked her, and she hit him with a toilet. It triggered memories of his childhood, and has left him more withdrawn and angry than ever. After M-Day, Sidney was one of the few that retained his powers – a fact he privately laments – and was gravely wounded by religious fanatic William Stryker and was left in a coma. During this time he was sucked into Limbo, though he has only vague recollections of it due to his comatose state. He recovered soon after, and went with the X-Men when they recently moved house to San Francisco. | |||||||||
